Finance Manager
About High Scale
We’re High Scale — a future-focused, data-obsessed agency revolutionizing video advertising on TV and social media. Think Amazon’s obsession with customer experience meets SpaceX’s fearless ambition—that’s the DNA behind everything we do.
Our 160-person team of creatives, strategists, and innovators produces thousands of high-impact campaigns weekly for the world’s leading lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and DTC brands. With 50,000 sq. ft. of DTLA studios and a global influencer network, we’re scaling rapidly—and we’re looking for a Finance Manager who can bring structure, visibility, and strong financial discipline to our next stage of growth.
We move quickly, challenge assumptions, and continuously look for smarter ways to operate. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just report the numbers, but understands what they mean, spots problems early, and takes ownership of finding solutions.
Why This Role Matters
As High Scale grows, we need stronger financial systems, better forecasting, and greater visibility into how every part of the business is performing.
As our Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of core financial operations while working closely with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, profitability, and financial planning.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the numbers while also seeing the bigger picture. You’ll help us understand where we’re performing well, where we’re overspending, where margins can improve, and what financial decisions will help us scale sustainably.
We’re looking for someone who can bring both financial rigor and a builder’s mentality to the role.
What You’ll Do
Own Financial Reporting
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reports.
Ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and useful for decision-making.
Analyze actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
Identify significant variances and communicate insights to leadership.
Lead Budgeting & Forecasting
Manage annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes.
Develop revenue, expense, headcount, and cash flow forecasts.
Partner with department leaders to develop and manage departmental budgets.
Update forecasts as business conditions and priorities change.
Build financial models to support strategic decisions and growth initiatives.
Manage Cash Flow
Maintain short- and long-term cash flow forecasts.
Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and payment cycles.
Identify potential cash flow issues before they become problems.
Improve working capital and cash management processes.
Provide leadership with clear visibility into the company’s financial position.
Improve Profitability & Cost Control
Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and profitability across the business.
Identify unnecessary spending and opportunities to improve financial efficiency.
Partner with department leaders to establish stronger cost controls and accountability.
Evaluate vendor costs, operating expenses, and major investments.
Develop reporting that helps leadership understand where and how the company makes money.
Strengthen Finance Operations
Improve accounting and finance workflows, controls, and documentation.
Establish clear SOPs for financial processes.
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive finance and reporting tasks.
Ensure accurate financial records and proper documentation.
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and other financial partners as needed.
Build Financial KPIs & Dashboards
Develop dashboards that provide visibility into revenue, expenses, margins, cash flow, and other key financial metrics.
Establish recurring financial reporting for leadership.
Track departmental performance against budgets and financial targets.
Turn financial data into clear, actionable business insights.
Partner With Leadership
Work directly with leadership on financial planning and business decisions.
Provide financial analysis for new initiatives, hiring decisions, investments, and operational changes.
Identify financial risks and opportunities proactively.
Present recommendations clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Who You Are
Experienced Finance Professional
5+ years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, FP&A, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in a finance management or senior finance position preferred.
Experience in an agency, professional services, BPO, shared services, or high-growth company is a strong advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent qualification is a plus, but not required.
Strong With Numbers — and the Business Behind Them
You’re comfortable going deep into financial statements, spreadsheets, forecasts, and models, but you don’t stop at reporting what happened.
You want to understand why it happened and what the business should do next.
Highly Analytical
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheets, cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting.
Experience with accounting or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, or similar platforms.
Experience building financial dashboards or using BI tools is a plus.
Process-Oriented
You naturally notice when a financial process is inefficient, unclear, or unnecessarily manual.
Rather than accepting “this is how we’ve always done it,” you look for a better solution and take ownership of implementing it.
Comfortable With Accountability
You’re confident challenging numbers, asking questions, and holding teams accountable to budgets and financial commitments.
You communicate clearly and can explain complex financial information in a way that makes sense to non-finance teams.
Energized by Growth
You’re comfortable working in an environment where priorities evolve and new challenges appear quickly.
You bring solutions rather than simply identifying problems, take initiative without needing constant direction, and enjoy building systems that make the entire organization stronger.
